ILCAVic in conjunction with SYC will have two coaches at the Nationals in Hobart. The two coaches will be Ellen Juhasz and Simon Small. There are two booking options with ILCAVic 1) Pre regatta coaching on the 31st December and the 1st January plus the Nationals 9 days at $80 per day $720 or 2) the 7 regatta days at $560. SYC members have their own booking link.

At this stage we believe there will be two race courses one for the ILCA 4, and a seperate course for the ILCA 6 & 7 but this may change depending upon the entries.

Simon Small will also be coaching at the CoolPac ILCA coaching camp at SSCBC on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st.

Simon grew up in NZ, he has trained and raced against the legends; Burfoot, Dawson, Pepper, Barker. A campaigner in the Ben Ainsley youth era, Simon won the youth worlds in 1996 in the Full Rig. 

Simon knows how to manipulate the rig and trim for speed. He has shown this skill again and again over the decades, first as a youth, then open and now a masters sailor and coach.

An intensely fierce racer, Simon has a leave nothing out there approach, 'go hard or go home' might be an apt descriptor!

Generous with his knowledge and time, Simon loves helping others to be smarter around the race track. Simon is excellent in analysing a race performance and helping sailors see patterns and key moments - he is very good at helping sailors to play the racing game and to be strong of mind to use their strengths and consciously address weaknesses.

Working with Shirley Robertson GBR in the Europe for her Sydney 2000 Victory.

Working with Sharon Ferris NZL in the Europe for her NZ Olympic campaign 2nd overall.

Mentoring Caterina Meyer for her Ilca 4 worlds in 2024.

Having Simon in the team is a large win for Victorian sailors. He is highly enthusiastic and can't wait to meet the squad members at the CoolPac training camp at SSCBC.
